A degoogled phone runs without Google’s apps and services. You can buy one ready to use, or put a degoogled system on a phone yourself. These are our picks for each situation, with prices and availability checked on the official stores in October 2026.
We don’t use affiliate links. For how the systems differ and how to degoogle the phone you already own, see our main phone guide.
Our Picks at a Glance
- Best for most people. A Pixel 10a or Pixel 10 with GrapheneOS, installed yourself in about an hour.
- Best preinstalled. A NitroPhone with GrapheneOS from Nitrokey, or a Fairphone 6 with /e/OS from Murena.
- Best on a budget. A used Pixel 8, 8a or 9a with GrapheneOS, or a refurbished Pixel 8 with /e/OS.
- Best repairable. The Fairphone 6 with /e/OS.
- Best if you have an iPhone. Keep it and remove Google’s apps and accounts.
- Best non-Pixel Android. A Fairphone 6 with /e/OS or CalyxOS, or in Europe a Volla Phone.

Support dates for Pixels come from GrapheneOS’s device list, which uses Google’s minimum update dates. Prices change often, so check the store before you buy.

Best for Most People, a Pixel 10a or Pixel 10 With GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS has the strongest security and privacy of the options here, plus long update support. Most banking apps and Android Auto still work once you add sandboxed Google Play, which runs Google’s apps in a sandbox with no special access. You install it yourself from your browser in about an hour. Our GrapheneOS guide walks you through it.
Which model. The Pixel 10a costs from $599 on the US Google Store and gets support until at least March 2033. The Pixel 10 costs from $799 and is supported until August 2032. Choose by the price where you live. In Germany in October 2026, the Pixel 10 was on sale for €629, less than the 10a’s €649.
Buy it unlocked. A carrier can block the switch you need to install GrapheneOS, mainly in the US. Pixels sold by Verizon often can’t be unlocked at all. Buy from the Google Store or a retailer that sells the unlocked model.
Skip the Pixel 11. It’s on sale, but GrapheneOS doesn’t support it. In August 2026 GrapheneOS strongly advised against buying one, because Google appeared to have dropped a hardware security feature it relies on. It’s still testing, so check its device list before you buy.
The irony of buying a Google phone to leave Google isn’t lost on anyone. GrapheneOS picks devices that meet its hardware security requirements, including a bootloader you can relock, and today only Pixels qualify. GrapheneOS says Motorola phones should follow in 2027.
Best Preinstalled Phones
NitroPhone, for GrapheneOS Out of the Box
Nitrokey, a German security company, sells Pixel 10 series phones with GrapheneOS already installed. Prices in October 2026 start at €649 for the NitroPhone 10a, then €819 for the 10, €999 for the 10 Pro, €1,349 for the 10 Pro XL and €1,999 for the 10 Pro Fold. Nitrokey also offers versions with the microphones or cameras removed, at extra cost.
- Shipping. Nitrokey lists worldwide delivery. Some countries need a quote first.
- US use. Nitrokey says NitroPhones work with all major carriers but not with all 5G networks, and that US frequency coverage is incomplete.
- Trust. GrapheneOS isn’t affiliated with any company that sells phones with it preinstalled. Check the phone with the Auditor app when it arrives.
Murena, for /e/OS Out of the Box
Murena, based in France, sells phones with /e/OS, a degoogled Android that uses microG in place of Google Play services. It comes with Murena’s own app store and cloud. Version 4.3.1 (30 September 2026) runs on Android 16.
| Murena phone | US price | EU price | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairphone 6 | $649.99 | €639.99 (sale, was €649.99) | New, removable battery |
| Fairphone 6+ | $699.99 | €689.99 (sale, was €699.99) | New |
| Pixel 8, refurbished | $379.99 | €419.99 | One-year warranty |
| Pixel 7, refurbished | $319.99 | €339.99 | Google firmware ends October 2027, so skip it |
Iodé, for iodéOS Out of the Box
iodé in France sells phones with iodéOS, which is also built on microG. In October 2026 its shop lists the Pixel 8 from €373, the Pixel 9 from €513 and the Fairphone 6 from €639. The same shop also sells very old phones, such as the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Xperia XA2. They no longer get security updates from their makers, so skip them.
Best on a Budget, a Used Pixel With GrapheneOS
A used Pixel with GrapheneOS gives you the same software as a new one for less. The Pixel 8 is supported until at least October 2030, the 8a until May 2031 and the 9a until April 2032. The Google Store lists the Pixel 9a at $499 but shows it out of stock, so look for it at other sellers.
Before you pay, make sure the phone isn’t carrier-locked. Our GrapheneOS guide has a two-minute check you can do with the seller.
If you won’t install anything, Murena’s refurbished Pixel 8 with /e/OS costs $379.99 in the US and €419.99 in Europe. In the EU, iodé sells the Pixel 8 with iodéOS from €373. Murena also lists other models, such as the Teracube 2s and, in Europe, the GS6. Check how long each one gets updates before you buy.
Best Repairable Phone, the Fairphone 6
The Fairphone 6 is built to be repaired, with a removable battery and spare parts you can fit yourself. Bought from Fairphone with /e/OS, it costs €649 and comes with a five-year warranty (terms apply) and 8 years of OS and security updates, with long-term software support from Murena.
- Systems. /e/OS comes preinstalled from Murena or Fairphone. CalyxOS supports the Fairphone 6 if you install it yourself, and iodé sells it with iodéOS. GrapheneOS doesn’t run on it.
- US buyers. Murena’s US store sells it for $649.99. Fairphone’s /e/OS page says it ships to every US state except Alaska and Hawaii. Check the carrier notes below before you order.
- UK and Europe. Murena sells it from €639.99 on sale, and Fairphone’s shop serves the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Norway.
Best If You’d Rather Keep Your iPhone
An iPhone has no Google services built into the system. You only change Safari’s search engine, remove your Google account from Mail, Contacts and Calendars, and delete Google’s apps. It takes 20 to 30 minutes, and you keep Apple Pay, CarPlay and every banking app. You depend on Apple instead of Google. The steps are in our phone guide.
If you’re thinking of leaving an iPhone for a degoogled Android, check your bank and how you’ll pay in shops first, because Google Wallet tap-to-pay doesn’t work on degoogled systems.
Best Non-Pixel Android Phones
- Fairphone 6. The easiest non-Pixel choice, covered above.
- Motorola moto g with CalyxOS, only for a phone you already own. CalyxOS supports the moto g 5G (2024), g84 5G, g34 5G, g45 5G, g52, g42 and g32, but it expects to stop their security updates between December 2026 and March 2027. Don’t buy one for CalyxOS. To flash one you already have, request an unlock code from Motorola first, and know that unlocking voids the warranty. Our GrapheneOS vs CalyxOS comparison lists the end date for each phone.
- SHIFTphone 8. A phone with a removable battery and a physical kill switch, sold with /e/OS by Murena (€774.99) and with iodéOS by iodé (from €839). CalyxOS supports it too, though only until about December 2026.
- Volla Phone. Volla Systeme GmbH sells phones with Volla OS, an Android without Google apps or Play services, or with Ubuntu Touch. Models cost €564 to €719. Volla OS can use microG for apps that need Google services. Volla promises at least 5 years of system updates. Its site doesn’t state US shipping.
- The phone you already own. /e/OS lists 217 supported phones, and LineageOS covers even more. See our phone guide for how to check yours.
Phones to Skip
- The Pixel 11 series. GrapheneOS doesn’t support it (October 2026).
- The Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 7 and 7 Pro. Support ends in October 2026 for the 6 and October 2027 for the 7.
- Any Samsung. Samsung removed the OEM unlocking option in One UI 8 (July 2025), so no custom system installs on an updated Samsung.
- Carrier-locked Pixels, especially Verizon’s.
- Very old phones sold with a degoogled system, such as the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Xperia XA2 in iodé’s shop.
Niche Phones
- BraX3. Brax Technologies sells it for $379 with a “de-Googled Android.” iodé announced it with iodéOS. The store page doesn’t say how long updates last, so we can’t rank it above a Pixel.
- Linux phones, such as the Purism Librem 5 and the PinePhone. They run Linux instead of Android, so most Android apps need workarounds and many banking apps won’t run. Treat them as a project, not a daily phone.
- Tablets. GrapheneOS supports the Pixel Tablet until June 2028. Murena sells a Volla Tablet with /e/OS for $675.99 or €649.99.
US Carriers, VoLTE and Verizon
Carrier support is the most common surprise for US buyers. Check yours before you order.
| Phone | T-Mobile | AT&T | Verizon |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlocked Pixel with GrapheneOS | Supported | Supported, no visual voicemail | Supported, if it isn’t a Verizon model |
| Fairphone 6 with /e/OS | Yes, including T-Mobile-based carriers | Ask Murena first | No |
| NitroPhone | Yes, 5G partial | Yes, 5G partial | Yes, 5G partial |
- Pixels with GrapheneOS. GrapheneOS aims to work with every carrier Google supports, including VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling and 5G. Visual voicemail doesn’t work on AT&T, and Wi-Fi calling can vary on carriers that rely on Google’s own apps.
- Fairphone 6 with /e/OS. Murena lists it as compatible with T-Mobile and its MVNOs. Fairphone’s US support page says /e/OS phones only work with T-Mobile. Its carrier page lists AT&T as supported for the phone Fairphone sells in the US, but says Verizon and carriers on its network, such as Visible and Total Wireless, are not supported. On AT&T, ask Murena before you buy.
- Imported phones. Some carriers restrict VoLTE on Pixels bought abroad. Buy a model sold in your country.
- A privacy carrier. Cape, a US carrier that deletes call and text logs after a day, supports GrapheneOS by eSIM. Our Google Fi alternatives page compares it with cheaper carriers if you’re leaving Fi too.
Outside the US and the EU
- United Kingdom. Buy an unlocked Pixel locally and install GrapheneOS, or order a Fairphone 6, which Fairphone ships to the UK.
- Canada. Buy an unlocked Pixel and avoid carrier models. Murena’s North American store lists Canada as a destination, so check delivery to your province.
- Australia. Buy an unlocked Pixel locally and install GrapheneOS. Nitrokey delivers NitroPhones worldwide, with some countries quoted on request.
Check Before You Buy
- List the apps you can’t live without, such as your bank, government ID, work sign-in, transit and car apps. Look each one up on the PrivSec.dev list and on Plexus.
- Decide how you’ll pay in shops. Google’s own help says Wallet won’t make contactless payments on a phone with a custom system, so plan on a card, a watch or your bank’s own app. See our Google Wallet alternatives.
- If you drive with Android Auto, choose GrapheneOS, or test it with your car on /e/OS and other microG systems.
- Check the exact model on your chosen system’s supported list and note its end-of-support date.
- Check your carrier in the table above.
- For a Pixel, buy the unlocked model. For a used one, test the OEM unlocking switch before you pay.
Partial is fine. If no degoogled phone fits your bank or your car, you can still cut most of what Google collects on the phone you have, and move your email, photos and maps one at a time. Our free scan shows which Google services and accounts you depend on, from files you download yourself.
